Woburn

Situated on The Woburn Estate, home to The 15th Duke of Bedford, less than an hour’s drive and only 30 miles north of The Grove, Woburn Golf Club offers the opportunity to play a choice of three tournament hosting courses, The Duke’s, Duchess or Marquess. It is the only 54 hole venue to have all three courses ranked in Golf Monthly and Golf World magazines Top 100 Courses in the UK & Ireland.

Woburn has an impressive tournament history, having hosted in excess of fifty Professional Tournaments with a role of honour that reads like a who’s who of world golf. The Marquess is one of four courses in the country which was selected to host Final Qualifying for The Open. The Marquess course was also the venue for the British Masters supported by Sky Sports in 2015 and The Ricoh Women’s British Open Championship in 2016, which was the first major to be staged at Woburn. The Duke’s course is venue for the Travis Perkins Masters in 2017.

Ian Poulter has been attached to Woburn as Tournament Professional since 2003 and was joined in 2014 by Charley Hull. Charley joined Woburn as a junior member at the age of 11.

The Duke’s course, designed by Charles Lawrie, was the first to be constructed in 1976.  Having tested many famous names in golf it is still the course most people associate with when they think of Woburn.

The Duchess’ course, also designed by Charles Lawrie and opened in 1978, is a hidden gem which puts a massive premium on straight hitting.

The Marquess course opened in 2000, designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark, European Golf Design (Ross McMurray) and Alex Hay.  It provides an enjoyable and testing challenge for golfers of all levels, with each hole possessing its own distinctive character.
