This year’s convention had a dress code all its own, courtesy of Turtleson — the Bristol, Tennessee apparel company behind this year’s newsletter sponsorship and the tops that Andrew Cooke, Victoria Snow and Seb Roberts wore throughout, monogrammed with the GTE logo through Turtleson’s corporate apparel service, picking up plenty of compliments along the way.
Founded in the early 2010s by Greg Oakley and Chet Sikorski, Turtleson set out to fix a specific problem: golf polos too boxy and heavy to wear anywhere but the course. The result is a range of men’s and women’s tops, layers, outerwear and bottoms, built from performance fabric but cut with a deliberately low-key look — nothing shouts “golf,” even though every piece is designed for it. The brand’s own shorthand for it is “Built on Better,” and the small details back it up: the ’11-stitch’ buttons are a quiet nod to Turtleson’s 2011 founding year, and the proprietary Standwell collar holds its shape without stays or gimmicks. Turtleson’s ambassador roster reaches well beyond Tennessee, too, including three British pros: Marcus Armitage and Jack Hawksby on the DP World Tour, and Steve Lewton on the Asian Tour.
Turtleson is available direct via turtleson.com, which ships to the UK, with a growing network of UK stockists. For English golf clubs and pro shops looking to freshen up their own range, it’s a brand with real crossover appeal — smart enough for the clubhouse, comfortable enough for eighteen holes.
