As we close out this issue, we’re delighted to look ahead to next year’s convention — and to a fantastic venue to host it. The GTE Convention 2027 will take place from 25–27 July at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, Merseyside — returning to where it all began ten years ago.
Formby Hall sits right at the heart of England’s Golf Coast, within easy reach of Liverpool and surrounded by some of the most famous links golf in the country — Royal Birkdale, Hillside and Formby itself are all close neighbours, giving delegates the chance to experience a genuinely world-class stretch of coastline alongside the convention programme.
The resort has real history behind it. The original Formby Hall was built in 1523 for the Formby family, and the manor house still stands today as a private residence, visible from the 16th hole as a quiet reminder of just how much history this land carries. The golf resort itself opened in 1996, with the hotel following in 2008. Today, Formby Hall offers an 18-hole Championship Course, the shorter Woodhey Dunes Course, a PGA Golf Academy, spa and leisure facilities and 76 bedrooms and suites set across 200 acres of parkland.
We’re also looking at building a pre-convention FAM trip into next year’s plans, giving delegates the chance to experience some of England’s Golf Coast firsthand before the main programme begins — think rounds at neighbouring links like Royal Birkdale and Hillside, alongside Formby Hall itself.
