When Bert Trommelen of Dutch tour operator 3D Golfvakanties joined Golf Tourism England and travelled to our 2026 Convention at Saunton, he got his first real taste of the South West’s spectacular golf. The championship links, dramatic coastline and warm welcome clearly left their mark, because Bert has now turned that experience into new group tours for his Dutch clients.
The six-day trip, “Zuid Engeland Newquay – Cornwall”, runs from 12 to 17 September 2027 and already has seven golfers signed up. Bert plans to join the group himself as second tour leader, so he can share the coast he discovered first-hand.
That’s not all. Next April, Bert is bringing a group of 14 golfers to the North Somerset coast for a short, intensive golf break based at the Walton Park Hotel in Clevedon. The group will play Clevedon Golf Club and all 27 holes at Burnham & Berrow, before squeezing in a final round at Weston-super-Mare Golf Club on their departure day.
Both trips have been put together in cooperation with the team at Golf South West, a great example of members working together to bring new visitors to the region. It’s exactly what GTE membership and our Convention are designed to do: put tour operators on the ground, introduce them to great venues and turn first impressions into real bookings.
