Set across 1,000 acres of Cheshire countryside between the Cheshire plain and the Welsh hills, Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa combines two championship courses, a four-star hotel, a standalone spa and its own vineyard on a single estate.
Named England’s Best Golf Hotel at the World Golf Awards, Carden Park is one of the most complete golf resorts in the North West, and a natural base for groups exploring Chester, North Wales and the championship links of England’s Golf Coast.
The Nicklaus Course
Designed by Jack Nicklaus and his son Steve, the Nicklaus Course is a par-72 championship test of more than 7,000 yards, which Nicklaus himself described as “a thinking man’s golf course”. Water hazards, rolling terrain and immaculate greens demand careful course management. The round opens alongside the estate’s vineyard, with views to the Welsh hills, and finishes in front of the hotel, where guests can watch players come home.
The Cheshire Course
Opened in 1993, the Cheshire Course is the estate’s original layout: a more traditional parkland course that rolls gently through mature trees and lakes at the back of the estate, with views out to the Welsh hills. It has hosted European Tour pre-qualifying events and, at around 6,650 yards, is challenging without being punishing, making it ideal for groups of mixed ability. Both courses currently rank among the top 10 in Cheshire.
Stay, dine and relax
The hotel has almost 200 rooms, many with views across the Cheshire plain, the Welsh hills and the golf courses. Dining includes The Vines, a two AA Rosette restaurant inspired by the estate’s vineyard, where grapes are grown for Carden Park’s own wine, and Jack’s Bar in the golf clubhouse, overlooking the Cheshire Course. The standalone Spa at Carden, with saunas, a vitality pool and relaxation rooms, is perfect for non-golfers and for unwinding after a round.
With extensive conference and event space, Carden Park is also a popular choice for corporate golf days and society events.
Getting there
Carden Park is just off the A41 near the village of Broxton, around 14 miles from Chester railway station and approximately 40 minutes by car from Manchester Airport. Chester city centre, with its Roman walls and medieval Rows, is a short drive away.
