Golf Tourism England is currently finalising a new programme of familiarisation (FAM) trips across England and is keen to hear from tour operators, destinations, and industry partners interested in learning more about England as a golf destination.

England continues to offer exceptional value for money when set against many established golf markets. What truly sets it apart, however, is the depth and authenticity of its golfing heritage. Few countries can match the sheer concentration of historic clubs, timeless landscapes, and courses that have stood the test of time—not through reinvention, but through enduring design quality.

England’s courses are, in many cases, living exhibitions of the Golden Age of golf course architecture, shaped by architects whose work still defines how the game is played today. Names such as Harry Colt, Alister MacKenzie, James Braid, Herbert Fowler, and J F Abercromby left an extraordinary legacy—one that remains central to England’s appeal for travelling golfers.

Across classic links, heathland, clifftop and parkland layouts, these architects worked at the height of their powers, creating courses that prioritise strategy, natural movement of land, and enduring enjoyment over brute length or fashion. Many of these courses remain largely unchanged, offering today’s golfers the rare opportunity to experience architecture exactly as it was intended.

The upcoming GTE FAM trips will showcase this breadth—pairing iconic golf with high-quality accommodation, straightforward transport links, and regional clusters that make multi-course itineraries both logical and rewarding. They are designed to provide genuine, on-the-ground insight into how England can be sold confidently and credibly to international golfers.

Anyone interested in, or in taking part in future FAM trips, is encouraged to get in touch.
