A recent visit to the Tees Valley proved to be an interesting experience; an area comprising Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesborough, Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland has a surprising number of golf courses, given that it is not particularly well known as a golf destination.
The likelihood is that you will have heard about @Seaton Carew Golf Club wherever you are based in the UK if you are a golf enthusiast who has an idea of the Top 100 golf courses in the country. To celebrate 150 years, England Golf chose Seaton Carew as the host venue for the 2024 English Amateur Championship in the summer along with neighbouring @Hartlepool Golf Club.
GTE is currently putting together a report about the potential for growing golf tourism in the region and we are looking forward to sharing some of the key findings and opportunities for golfers looking for an extraordinarily good value golf trip.
Add the highly underrated @Cleveland Golf Club to the two mentioned above, and you have a set of high quality links courses that can test the best, and stand up to comparison with many of the best tours in the country. What is not comparable to any other part of the country is the value for money. With greens fees around the £50 mark at all but Seaton Carew, there is an argument to add another trip into your golfing diary immediately. The accommodation in the area is very cost effective too, so it’s worth checking it out before we start raising the profile of the whole region.
